Dear Valued Customers,
We would like to advise that we are continuing business as usual to deliver training and to provide related sales, service, Standby/Sentry duties with additional precautions.
It may be an opportunity for your staff to receive important Safety training and related services as a result of adjustments to normal business operations in your industries/workplaces.
As a registered training organisation, we are also monitoring information for vocational education and training (VET) providers outlined by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment.
We will be continuing to communicate through social media and our web site.
In response to information and guidelines from Australian health authorities, we wanted to take the opportunity to inform of the extra protective measures Newcastle Rescue and Consultancy are taking to support our staff and participants.
In line with the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), we ask that any participants who have returned from overseas travel to reschedule any training until such time the self-imposed 14 day quarantine period has ended. We ask that any participants feeling unwell for any reason to reschedule their training until such time they are symptom free. If you could please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements on 1300 356 686 or enquiries@newcastlerescue.com.au

Newcastle Rescue’s Training centre have hand sanitiser, facilities for hand washing and posters to remind participants of the importance. Due to the limited stock available of hand sanitiser we do ask where possible bring your own and will continue to monitor the availability of hand sanitiser items.
We are taking extra protective measures for all our staff, participants and visitors – Most of these measures are standard practice but we are being extra diligent to ensure these are up-held to the highest standard. These include –
- Sanitising rooms and training equipment between courses
- Ensuring staff members practice exceptional personal hygiene
- More regular cleaning of amenities.
- EFTPOS facilities are disinfected after each use

About the role
We are seeking an Operations Manager for our facility in Newcastle (NSW). Reporting to the Managing Director, your role will be to ensure that adequate and effective support is available to the management team from an operation perspective, ensuring all site tasks are executed in a timely and organised manner.
Skills and experience

People Leadership
- Take responsibility for one’s own and teams’ performance by setting clear goals and expectations within the administration department, tracking progress and ensuring feedback and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
- Directly lead, coordinate and supervise staff and provide support to the wider team (trainers, sales, marketing) where required.
- Delegate duties and prioritise activities for staff to ensure all work tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure the effective communication within the team is always maintained and address any conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
- Assist in the recruitment of team members within your area of responsibility, including the interviewing, assessing and training of new employees.

Administration
- Review administration processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Co-ordinate timetable planning and management of staff projects.

- Assess staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency.

- Monitor inventory of office supplies and the purchasing of new material with attention to budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage ongoing projects.

- Prior experience working in a senior administrative capacity in an RTO is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in business or adult education.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Prior experience in a similar site-based Operation Manager or Senior Site Admin role, having worked in the RTO sector.
Desirable
- Qualifications relevant to the RTO

Asbestos Training Prerequisites
Need Asbestos Training for you or your employees?
If you are thinking of doing Remove Non-Friable Asbestos, Remove Friable Asbestos or Supervise Asbestos Training there are important prerequisites that are needed before you can commence training.
Prerequisites are as follows:
All participants MUST hold and present on the day of training a Statement of Attainment Certificate, showing either “CPCCOHS1001A – Work safely in the construction industry” OR “CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry”. Either of these units of competency are a prerequisite for asbestos training. If you completed WHITE CARD formal training AFTER September 2009 you will have completed the correct unit of competency. If TRAINING WAS PRIOR to 2009 you will need to redo the WHITE CARD.
If a Statement of Attainment Certificate showing you have completed either of these units and other applicable prerequisites listed below is not presented a course booking cannot be taken. You must present your white card certification as described above and applicable prerequisites below before we can take the booking for the asbestos training course.
NON-FRIABLE Asbestos training is also a prerequisite to FRIABLE Asbestos training. Also SUPERVISE Asbestos Training requires both or either depending on application to Industry.

Emergency Response Challenge 2019
Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Emergency Response Challenge 30th Sept- 3rd Oct 2019
11 teams were put through their paces at Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby. The challenge activities included a theory exam, fire rescue, rope rescue, endurance, multi casualty, road crash rescue and confined space search and rescue.
Newcastle Rescue had great pleasure in providing training and adjudication for the challenge.

Newcastle Rescue had the pleasure of presenting Josh Rose with 500 printed drink bottles to be given out to all the academy students.
Rose Football Academy was the creation of Josh Rose. Josh has been a professional footballer for 17 years currently playing in the National Premier League Northern New South Wales side of Edgeworth. He previously played in the A-League for New Zealand Knights, Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City as well as in the National Soccer League for Brisbane Strikers and in the Liga with Universitatea Craiova.
Josh has always had a passion for coaching kids in football and saw a lack of development options in the Central Coast Area so the Rose Football Academy was created.

Newcastle Rescue were asked to adjudicate the Emergency Response team in Laos.
One of the scenarios was a (MVA) motor vehicle accident which included a 56 seat bus which had overturned on the way to site.
The Call had gone out to security indicating that a serious accident had occurred 36km from the site carrying multiple persons.
The Emergency Services were activated and responded quickly to the incident scene.
Unknown to the team, they were directed to a simulated training area where they found both fatalities as well as victims with serious and life-threatening injuries.
Newcastle Rescue’s Managing Director John Owen said the team reacted very well considering the amount of personnel that were on the bus as well as the remote terrain the crew were dealt with.
These kinds of scenarios are vital for all teams who work in Emergency Response especially remote areas of the world, not only does it prove how often Emergency teams should rehearse their training but also evaluates what standard the response team is at.
This is where adjudicators can pass on their experience and make a difference to the operators.
