What is NSW Smart & Skilled?
The NSW Smart and Skilled program is a program developed by the NSW Government that helps individuals receive qualifications that are currently in-demand. As an approved Smart and Skilled training provider, Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy Pty Ltd can help individuals obtain part qualifications in a range of industries and courses.
Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy Pty Ltd are a NSW Smart & Skilled contracted Registered Training Organisation (RTO). That means the NSW Government subsidises our delivery of training to you for part qualifications.
Smart and Skilled funding is just not for individuals needing to gain a particular qualification or partial qualification. We help businesses and organisations to access Smart and Skilled funding to gain customised training in areas critical to their business success that align with the Government’s priority Skills Set List.

Courses Available
Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy is an approved provider under the NSW Smart & Skilled program, for delivery of selected part qualifications.

Funding & Fees
All training fees depend on your personal circumstances. If you are a recipient of government benefits, have a disability or are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you may be eligible for fee free* or a concession price.
Your enrolment fee will be dependent upon your circumstances. We cannot assess your actual fee until you have completed your enrolment application.
After we check your enrolment, we will contact you directly to detail any fees applicable.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Smart & Skilled Training you must be:
- 15 years or over
- No longer at school
- Living or working in NSW
- An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
If you answered ‘Yes’ to all four questions, your eligible for Smart & Skilled Training.
Other Eligibility Conditions
Your eligibility is not affected if you have completed a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course, including school-based apprenticeship or traineeship, as part of your high school education.
There are also some exceptions to the eligibility conditions described above, such as for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Since January 2015, all students participating in VET qualifications are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy Pty Ltd is required under Commonwealth Law to have the USI recorded for the student’s training as part of the enrolment process.
Applicants are required to create their own USI if they do not already hold one by accessing the USI website HERE.

Student Support
Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy Pty Ltd offer students who experience disadvantage, including students with a disability additional support.
The enrolment application process identifies any support needs and possible matters which may impact training and assessment.
Contextualisation and additional support needs are reviewed for reasonable adjustment and implementation prior to training commencement.
Support, progression and adjustments are reviewed throughout the nominal duration of the training.

Beyond Blue provides support for people suffering with depression or anxiety with information to help further educate anyone looking for help and provides a list of national helplines and websites for those in need.
