
In 2026 Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy will now offer a 3-day course in G1, G8, G9 – (S1, S2, S3) Site Supervisor Training which requires students to complete three units of competency to achieve a Statement of Attainment.
The G1, G8, G9, (S1, S2, S3) Site Supervisor Course provides the skills and knowledge for individuals working in the Resource Sector who are required to perform the role and duties of a Mine Supervisor.
The Site Supervisor skill set, known in the resource sector as G1, G8 ,G9 (S1, S2, S3) or is appropriate for those working in operational roles at sites in coal mining, drilling and metalliferous mining.
Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy offers a 3-day course in the above units which requires students to complete three units of competency to achieve a Statement of Attainment.
The Site Supervisor Course is delivered by our Subject Matter Experts over 3 days of intensive training with assessment activities.
The Site Supervisor Courses will be regularly conducted at our Beresfield training venue and can also be delivered for organisations offsite across Australia.
The course will cover the following areas;
• RIIRIS301E: Apply Risk Management Processes – This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes in the mining, utilities and civil infrastructure industry. This unit applies to individuals who contribute to applying risk management processes as part of their responsibilities. This could be an employer, supervisor, safety advisor or employee. This unit applies to those who carry out risk assessment in the workplace.
• RIICOM301E: Communicate Information – This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to communicate information to complete work activities within the mining, utilities and civil infrastructure industry. It includes planning and preparing for and conducting communication via a number of different methods to ensure work activities are understood. This unit applies to individuals who are working in an operational, supervisory or team leader capacity.
• RIIWHS301E: Conduct Health & Safety Investigations – This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct work related safety and health investigations as a result of an incident and to contribute to a safe workplace. It applies to individuals who participate in work related health and safety investigations as part of their responsibilities.

Course Delivery
Training is delivered Face to Face. All training handouts supplied.
PPE Required
Participants are to provide their own workplace PPE. Participants are to wear comfortable clothing and closed in shoes.
Physical Requirement – participant must be in good health and medically fit for work.
Assessment
Assessment of the G1,G8,G9 (S1, S2, S3) Site Supervisor Course is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill, and the application of that knowledge and skill, to the standard of performance expected in the workplace.
Assessment methods in the course will include:
• Demonstration through questioning (verbal or written)
• Demonstration of practical skill in a workplace or simulated environment
• Direct observation by the facilitator
• Third party report and employer support documentation
• It is the student’s responsibility to check on the legislative and occupational licensing requirements applicable to their current field of
occupation.
On successful completion of the Site Supervisor Course 3 day training course, participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment stating;

- Units of Competency Completed
- Date of Completion
- Statement of Attainment Number
Recognition of Prior Learning
All participants are offered the opportunity to apply for RPL. Please refer to the Student Handbook (located in resources) or phone 1300 356 686 for the procedure of how to apply.
USI
From 1st January 2015, it is a requirement when enrolling in a Nationally Recognised training course to have a Unique Student Identifier Number (USI). Certifications cannot be issued until the USI number has been provided and verified.
