To obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements. Access, interpret and apply documentation to conduct lifting operations.
Newcastle Rescue & Consultancy offers a 1-day course in Transfer of Loads and Lifting Operations which requires students to complete two units of competency to achieve a Statement of Attainment.
Transfer of Loads and Lifting Operations Courses are regularly conducted at our Beresfield training venue and can also
be delivered for organisations either onsite or offsite across Australia, Papua New Guinea and S.E Asia (minimum
numbers of 6 students apply).
The course will cover the following areas;
RIIHAN203E Conduct Lifting Operations
• Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements.
• Access, interpret and apply documentation to conduct lifting operations.
• Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures according to site requirements.
• Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site requirements.
• Develop preliminary lifting plan according to job and site requirements.
• Check and confirm job feasibility and schedule with load designer and personnel involved in lifting operations.
• Finalise and confirm lifting plan according to job and site requirements.
• Prepare for lifting.
• Identify, select, inspect and assemble lifting equipment, materials and tools required for planned lift according to manufacturer specifications
and site requirements.
• Label unserviceable equipment, materials and tools according to site requirements.
• Move loads.
• Identify and confirm safe working loads and centre of gravity according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
• Direct load movement, according to site requirements, using standard load moving signals.
• Perform load moving according to lifting plan, manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
• Connect lifting gear to load according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
• Connect load to movement device using appropriate and certified equipment according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
• Comply with required specifications during placement and securing of load.
MSMSUP205 Transfer Loads
• This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to move loads using cranes and gantries.
• It applies to operators who are required to plan and apply the correct method to secure and move the goods safely without damage to the
goods, personnel or equipment.
• This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with another shift with team
members and the control room operator, as appropriate.

Course Delivery
Training is delivered Face to Face. All training handouts supplied.
PPE Required
Participants are to provide their own workplace appropriate gloves. Participants are to wear comfortable clothing and closed in shoes.
Physical Requirement – participant must be in good health and medically fit for work. If weight is over 136kg, we advise participant to bring a specialised harness with them to the training.
Assessment
Assessment of the Transfer of Loads and Lifting Operations Course is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill,
and the application of that knowledge and skill, to the standard of performance expected in the workplace. Assessment methods in the course will
include:
• A combination of methodologies including face to face training and practical training experience to teach you the skills to enable you to move
loads using cranes and gantries.
• You will learn the theory around safe work requirements for moving loads using cranes and gantries and practice your skills before being
formally assessed.
• Assessment consists of a written test on your knowledge and a practical demonstration of your skills to move loads using cranes and gantries.
• It is the student’s responsibility to check on the legislative and occupational licensing requirements applicable to their current field of
occupation.
On successful completion of the Transfer of Loads and Lifting Operations 1 day training course, participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment stating;

- Date of Completion
- Statement of Attainment Number
Recognition of Prior Learning

USI
From 1st January 2015, it is a requirement when enrolling in a Nationally Recognised training course to have a Unique Student Identifier Number (USI). Certifications cannot be issued until the USI number has been provided and verified.
